A Warhammer 40k 11th edition Escalation league, based out of General Games Malvern with fortnightly rounds for new and experienced players, encouraging learning and developing both competitive 40k and hobby/painting skills!

Luke, Luke Choi at General Games Malvern is the League Organizers (LOs), and should be referred to for any queries about the structure or organisation of the league, as well as any in-game rules questions not covered below.

Event Dates and Schedule:

Start Date: Friday 4th of September

End Date: Saturday 21st of November

Progression:

Every 2 weeks, players will increase their army size, adding new units and exploring different strategies:

Weeks 1-2: 1000 points, 2 Detachment Points (4th of September - 18th of September)

Weeks 3-4: 1250 points, 2 Detachment Points (19th of September - 2nd of October)

Weeks 5-6: 1500 points, 2 Detachment Points (3rd of October - 16th of October)

Weeks 7-8: 1750 points, 3 Detachment Points (17th of October - 30th of October)

Weeks 9-10: 2000 points, 3 Detachment Points (31st of October - 13th of November)

The final top 8 players will be invited to a 1-day RTT to determine the winner of the league. In the event that a player cannot make it, the ticket will roll down to the next person.
Final Round RTT: 2000 points, 3 Detachment Points (21st of November)

Where:

General Games Malvern has Tuesdays and Thursdays as our dedicated miniatures and wargaming nights, as well as limited availability on Friday nights and weekends subject to event scheduling, available for players to book in and play their league games.

While we encourage games to be played in store at General Games Malvern (where we provide play space and terrain), games can be played anywhere which suits the paired players, as long as results are reported on BCP!

League Rules:

Rounds will be fortnightly, which should allow plenty of time to organise to play your opponent. Game results should be reported directly on BCP.

Make sure you're in the General Games Malvern Discord server to see news and organise games and be sure to join the relevant discussion thread. All players are expected to have discord downloaded to their devices so that communication with their opponents and the TO is smooth.

In the event a time to play can’t be organised, a draw for the round will be the default entry. However if it is only one of the players which can’t be available, please get in touch with the LOs, and a concession may be made. With four miniature nights at the store in Malvern every two weeks and table space available throughout the days, there should be plenty of opportunities to meet up to play each round.

List Submission:

As this is an ongoing league, and the rules and balance of the game will be subject to change, players will select a faction to play at the start of the league, but may resubmit their lists at the beginning of each round before pairings are known. This allows players to try different units, learn from games, and expand their experience across the game.

Lists are to be submitted via Best Coast Pairings by 10pm on the Friday at the end of each round. Lists on BCP will be made editable on the final Wednesday of each round until 10pm Friday.

Pairings will only be made public after this time, and any lists not resubmitted will remain the same. Lists will be viewable on BCP, and each player is expected to be able to show and explain their list to an opponent prior to each game.

Painted Models:

Your armies don’t need to be painted, however players are expected to respect their opponents and the table, and have painting progress every week.

Terrain:

Official GW layouts for 11th edition will be randomly selected each round alongside the missions for each round; we have terrain sets in store that players can use to set up the battlefields.

Missions:

Missions will be drawn from the Chapter Approved 2026-2027 Tournament Pack and revealed alongside pairings each round. For scoring the Tabletop Battles app is a handy tool to have around, especially if you don’t have a set of cards.

The Escalation League is a great opportunity to start a modelling diary of your progress - we'd love to see it all shared on Discord or with General Games Malvern tagged on Facebook!

Prizing:

All entry fees will be put into a pool that will be divided among the top three and best painted at the end of the escalation league.

Best Painted Award:

A completely optional part of the league will be a painting/hobby competition run alongside it.
Players may participate by purchasing a model for their faction during the league, said model will be noted down and will be their entry for the painting competition. Models should be brought in store by the end of the final round for display in store, so that a winner may be selected through a vote!

Best Sportsmanship Award:

A best sportsmanship award will also be voted on by players towards the end of the final round!
